Hello and thank you for logging on to the Andy Scott benefit web-site.
Andy is a close personal friend and I was delighted to be asked to be the Chairman
of his Benefit Committee. The Committee’s sole objective is to raise funds which
will be split between Andy and the charity called CRY
(Cardiac Risk in the Young). I hope you find all the relevant information that
you need on this site.
Andy was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy a rare genetic disorder which restricts the efficient pumping of blood around the body due to a thickening of the heart muscle from inside. He has now been forced to retire from football after doctors warned any physical exercise could kill him.
Andy is one of the nicest people that you will ever have the good fortune to
meet. This will no doubt be reflected in the messages of goodwill that people
will leave on the Guestbook on this site and from
the many messages we have already received from leading sports personalities.
Two very emotional moments for Andy were the receptions he received at Brentford
F.C.’s Griffin Park Centenary Day and when Orient and Mansfield formed a tunnel
of honour for Andy and his son Lewis. The response from both sets of supporters
as they walked round the pitch after the shocking news of Andy’s condition had
broken was both amazing and very touching. I’ve no doubt Andy will comment further
on these moments together with the rest of his career.
By clicking on the links you will find details of forthcoming planned events
such as a Race Night at Orient, Football Quiz at Brentford, football matches between
Andy’s first Club Sutton Utd and Leyton Orient as well as Brentford v Leyton Orient
and a planned Gala Dinner as a conclusion to this campaign. There is also a list
of items which are to be either auctioned or up for grabs as raffle prizes, please
contact us should you wish to donate an item and support
us in this way.
Should you wish to donate to the Andy Scott Benefit, you may donate via the Non-Attendance ticket scheme by Credit Card or alternatively send payment by cheque or Postal Order to the address below.
I sincerely hope that the benefit is successful for Andy and CRY, we’re working hard to make sure that it is. Please contact us if you feel you wish to contribute anything whether it be items for auction or services that we could use. Any Corporate bodies helping out will receive the maximum exposure that we can give.
